1. Matang Family Park
Matang Family Park is only 22km (a 25 min. drive)from Kuching City. Nestled in a lush Equatorial rainforest
amidst the valley of Serapi Mountain, the world's oldest living rainforest, it captures the moods of the
tropical rainforest. MFP provides a world of natural adventure through our tailor-made trekking offers, nature
and bird-watching, or taking a dip in the clean, crystal clear mountain streams. Have your meals in the midst
of a natural symphony provided by the wild fauna. Activities can be tailored for your needs. Visitors can immerse
themselves in this ancient and complex environment.

2. Hash Run*
A rainforest experience for the fit and adventurous if your idea of fun is running (or walking) through humid jungle,
getting covered with mud, sweat, scratches, and bites, and recovering over a few drinks afterwards. A Hash Run will
find you climbing in and out of ravines, wading through water, and passing through native villages while navigating
through primary or secondary rainforests along with a group of like-minded locals and occasional visitors. (2hrs+/-
depending on your endurance.)
This unforgettable experience is concluded with the ceremonial �Circle� where newcomers are welcomed in the
traditional Hasher fashion, a �down-down� (toast) and a song. Then wash off and change into dry clothes on the
outskirts of the jungle. (An experience unto itself.) This entire production then moves to a traditional coffee
shop/restaurant for a group dinner, complete with more songs & down-downs!

3. Museums
Museum aficionados can easily spend an entire day visiting the museums in Kuching. Entrances to all are free
and most* are within walking distance of our hotel.
The Sarawak Museum*, which we will see briefly in our group tour, contains displays of art,
crafts, pre-historic artifacts, antiques, natural history, flora & fauna unique to Borneo.
The Sarawak Islamic Museum* depicts the rich historical heritage and culture of the Muslim
community in Sarawak.
The Cat Museum contains feline memorabilia and artifacts�real and fanciful!
The Timber Museum showcases the unique composition of the state�s forests, including forest
and land use, evolution of the timber industry and traditional wood items.
Pua Kumbu Museum* showcases superb collections of native textiles, silverware and jewelry.
4. Shop: More than 1 day is needed to browse and shop in Kuching! There are blocks after
blocks of native carvings: statues, masks, & furniture; weavings: fabric and floor coverings; and beadwork on &
off the Main Bazaar. If gold (22K), jade and pearls are your passion you can spend an entire day browsing the
shops on and around Carpenter Street. Fashionable contemporary clothing is available in the 3 major shopping
malls and in surrounding boutiques.
Take a coffee break at any of the local coffee shops for a cup of Kopi� better than any available in top coffee
producing countries in Central and South America!
Cost: all of the above shopping options are within walking distance of our hotel. You will be amazed at the low
prices and quality workmanship.
5. Relax: At our hotel�s pool... gym or sauna. Or take a leisurely stroll to the Kuching Waterfront
and have a cold drink while watching the people and the boats pass by.
